Written Long Ago...For Someone

Emotions plough through ancient jungles,
Quivering raindrops and blue hyacinth petals,
Flowing in silent reverie
And unmasked tenderness,
As life lays bare the baroque beauty
Of love in its most tender shades,
Often a sombre pigeon grey
Or a pearl pink of forgotten days.
You shimmer somewhere between
The yellowed pages
Of my battered and bruised manuscript,
And rise up like a mermaid from legends
Of unvanquished and misty Camelot,
As I, your impoverished poet
Fashion words into truncated, broken verses,
Strum the music of a resurrected life
On love's triumphant notes
And infidelity's danse macabre...

Sane or Insane?

I smile when I am sad,
I laugh when I am devastated.

Am I sane or insane?

Calm before the Storm

Everything is silent,
Or perhaps that is what
You want.
This single raindrop
Is now my bliss.
I need nothing more.

From an Old Journal

He sauntered...draped in the summer rain. I saw him walking high up, where the goats grazed and the birds flapped their wings beating a feathered morning. He wore white. The robes were snowflakes woven into his brown skin. He did not turn around. My footsteps failed to rouse him from his reverie. Slowly, almost like the mist, he faded away into the viridian forests, the lush undergrowth drinking in the tender footfalls. I became a tormented mountain stream as I rushed towards the green shadows that had embraced his soul.

Yet, he was gone, and I was left to pick up the pieces of my shattered desire...the desire to see him once more...from beneath the pine and spruce trees. That was the first meeting...or perhaps the first vision...of all that meant beauty to me. Beauty beyond divinity. And a love beyond redemption.

They...

They call me frozen as I refuse to follow the multitude
Of wavering women in need of a man's redemptive touch.
They call me old and worn as my youth remains a proud plume
Refusing to kiss the ground beneath a man' s feet.
They think I need the cold cells of insanity's sanctuary
As I pen down the blood dried words that escape my quill.
They refuse to climb the lofty portals of knowledge's temple
Or wade through the waters of serene abstraction.
I watch them bartering and bargaining lives lived as animals,
While my silence enchains tranquil thoughts to a shattered heart.
